The new volume mediates between the historic structure and the extension, reinforcing the coherence of the ensemble.
Designed by Bär Stadelmann Stöcker Architekten, the project draws on the scale and materiality of the listed building and translates them into a contemporary architectural language. The façade articulates these references through a refined interpretation of the surrounding context.
At the heart of the building, the central atrium acts as a spatial anchor. Its quality is defined by daylight. The overhead glazing with OKASOLAR S performs a dual role: it directs daylight deep into the space while limiting solar heat gains. The system’s directional structure ensures a uniform, glare-reduced distribution of light with partial transparency – enhancing orientation and spatial comfort.
In combination with the ongoing refurbishment of the historic school building, a coherent ensemble is emerging that seamlessly integrates old and new while providing a robust framework for contemporary learning environments.
