Spall protection classes: S or NS
Bullet-resistant glazing is available in two variants: spalling (S) and non-spalling (NS). With S glass, splinters may be projected from the opposite side after impact, whereas NS glass keeps the interior side completely intact — a crucial factor for personal protection, as the visual barrier remains preserved. NS glazing also offers enhanced transparency after impact without splinter clouding, prolonged visual protection, a lower risk of injury, and retained structural integrity, making it ideal for sensitive areas such as banks or embassies.
Bullet resistance in accordance with applicable standards
The effectiveness of bullet-resistant glazing is classified according to DIN EN 1063. This standard defines various resistance classes based on the calibre and firepower against which the glass is required to provide protection. The classes range from basic protection against handguns to the highest level of protection against heavy firearms.
The SWISSLAMEX SAFE SG tests were conducted by the Ulm Proof House (Ballistics Testing Authority Ulm) in accordance with DIN EN 1063.
