Greater ease for renovation and new construction
SILVERSTAR LIGHT
Contemporary façades require window solutions that combine slim profiles with outstanding technical performance and long-lasting quality. At the same time, relevant standards and the highest sustainability requirements must be met. Whether office buildings, residential properties, or commercial facilities: our thin glass solutions combine energy efficiency, safety, and sound insulation with particularly low weight and a reduced CO₂ footprint.
We define thin glass as panes with a thickness ranging from 0.5 mm to 2 mm. Glas Trösch is the first processor in continental Europe capable of integrating thin glass with a thickness of 0.5 mm into insulating glass units.
Our thin glass is installed as the center pane in triple insulating glass units, where it is securely embedded within the cavity. Another field of application is laminated safety glass (LSG).
SILVERSTAR LIGHT stands out due to its low weight while maintaining full functionality and identical technical performance in terms of thermal insulation, solar energy transmission, light transmission, and sound insulation. Depending on the glass configuration, insulating glass units equipped with thin glass are up to 47% lighter than solutions using 4 mm standard glass. The reduced use of materials conserves valuable resources.
Thin glass can be used in both new builds and renovation projects. In existing buildings where window frames are still in good condition, it is often possible to replace the old insulating glass units with new ones incorporating thin glass. Glas Trösch recommends asking a window manufacturer for advice.
SILVERSTAR LIGHT is currently available in a maximum size of 150 × 220 cm. This format covers approximately 75% of typical installation situations in window renovation projects.
