Completion is planned for April 2026. Designed by Frankfurt-based architect Christoph Mäckler, the terminal follows an urban concept with clearly defined spatial structures, generous daylighting, warm natural materials, and integrated service areas. Its modular design allows for future adaptation to evolving demands in air travel.
A key architectural feature is the fully glazed façade reaching up to 18 metres in height, creating maximum openness and visual connection. A distinctive “kink” in the main façade serves as a precise technical response to prevent radar reflections and maintain compatibility with nearby air traffic control systems.
BGT Bischoff Glastechnik supplied approximately 7,500 m² of triple insulating glass for the building envelope. The glazing units combine high light transmission with low U-values and effective acoustic insulation – all crucial for modern airport infrastructure. Delivered on time and within budget, the project exemplifies technical excellence and successful large-scale collaboration.
