A superlative skyscraper

The renowned firm Zaha Hadid Architects built a 36-storey skyscraper on a former car park, whose curved shape is reminiscent of a Bauhinia flower – a symbol of the city. The building meets the highest sustainability standards: the planners placed particular emphasis on natural ventilation and optimised daylight incidence, which reduced energy consumption to a minimum. The interior is also characterised by a natural design: open communal areas and a sky garden with green spaces ensure the highest quality of stay.

The sculptural glass façade is a central component of the design. Colour-neutral EUROWHITE base glass was used to achieve maximum light transmission. Three different SILVERSTAR coatings from Glas Trösch ensure energy and optical performance. SILVERSTAR SUPERSELEKT combines basic sun protection with high light transmission, while SILVERSTAR SUNSTOP NSP 50 was developed specifically for The Henderson as a particularly effective sun protection coating. LUXAR F also provides a clear view at any time of the day or night. Overall, the glass coating solution, developed in close cooperation with the design team, is tailored to the complex geometry of the building as well as the extreme climatic conditions. The more than 2,600 laminates and insulating glass units, some of which are double-curved, were manufactured by glass processor sedak.
