A clear façade structure for modern workplaces

| OKALUX | Reference

The new Atkins headquarters in Epsom (UK), designed by Northmill Associates, was conceived as a modern campus for around 1,300 employees.

The approximately 10,000 m² building consists of several clearly articulated volumes with generous glazing and distinctive façade fins. The architecture combines transparent working areas with quieter zones, creating a flexible environment that supports both collaboration and focused work.

The façade incorporates OKALUX HPI high-performance insulating glass modules. The system integrates a vacuum insulation panel within the cavity of the insulating glass unit, combined with a fleece layer. This creates opaque façade elements that achieve very good thermal insulation while maintaining a slim construction.

At the Atkins headquarters, the modules were used as parapet elements and partly in the floor transition zones. In addition to their thermal performance, they provide visual discretion within the façade without interrupting the clear façade structure. This allows the façade grid to remain continuous while maintaining a calm and precise architectural expression.
