Solar energy for fascinating light shows

The Novartis Pavilion on the banks of the Rhine presents itself in a scaly guise.

The building, designed by Milan-based architects AMDL CIRCLE and Michele De Lucchi in collaboration with Blaser Architekten, is characterized by a grid of solar modules. These supply the zero-energy media facade of LEDs developed by iart with necessary energy. The aluminum façade behind the grid serves as a reflective surface for the light sources, creating the fascinating illusion of a building-enveloping screen. 

This is made possible by the organic photovoltaic film ASCA®. Our subsidiaries BGT and INGLAS used it to laminate the more than 10,000 rhomboids and triangles of polycarbonate in various sizes. They now are part of this innovative architecture project and clothe the new gem on the Novartis Campus.

Inspired by the shapes and colors from the world of cells and molecules, the façade, with its fascinating light installations, arouses curiosity about what is happening inside the pavilion.
