Cool without ice: Former Ice Factory, Berlin

| OKALUX | Reference

Another industrial monument in Berlin is getting a second life: after many years of vacancy, the former ice factory - when there were no refrigerators, artificial ice in the form of sticks was produced here to cool food - is once again gracing the banks of the Spree thanks to conversion and refurbishment by architects ROBERTNEUN.

The striking historic chimney and the clinker facade shine again in new splendor and are skillfully placed in a contemporary context by a modern roof attachment. Roof glazing with our high-performance solar control louvre OKASOLAR 3D prevents direct solar irradiation and thus counteracts the entry of heat into the building interior – no need for ice for cooling anymore.
