Sacred simplicity

| OKALUX | Reference

Even though we appreciate down-to-earth architecture, we are delighted with this heavenly project: The abbey church in Gerleve, located in Westphalia, is a three-nave basilica built in the neo-Romantic style. Constructed at the beginning of the twentieth century, it remained unfinished until now.

In the course of a renovation of the interior, the sacred building was upgraded without changing its rather minimalist character to emphasise the state of incompletion. Our OKASOLAR daylight solution was implemented in the skylight of the altar area. This high-performance solar control solution employs a unique louvered design to optimize daylight use while minimizing solar heat gain, ensuring interiors remain bright yet comfortable throughout the year.
