Mixed-use at the harbor

| Glas Trösch | Reference

In Galway, Ireland, a commercial complex has been built on a formerly contaminated harbor site that now accommodates a mixed-use development. Completed in 2023, the 28,000 square meters of office and restaurant space, retail and student apartments fill the site with new life.

To avoid an overly pronounced block development, the building is not one, but four structures of different heights, which are connected via landscape bridges. Generous glass surfaces make it possible to enjoy the surrounding harbor panorama from inside.

Sustainability was particularly important to the planning architects from BDP – which is why they set themselves the carbon zero target when developing the property. To support this goal, our flagship product SILVERSTAR Combi Neutral 70/35 NG T was used. This high performance double silver coated glass offers neutrality and high light transmission, providing solar control and energy savings.

  • Building Type Office and Administration Building, Trade, Hotel / Gastronomy Building, Residential construction
